“Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read, write and count. Childhood is a small window of time to develop at the pace that is right for each individual child.” , Maria Montessori

Deborah Newman

Center Director

Deborah believes strongly that every child should be treated as an individual and that their early years education should reflect this and allow each child to develop at their own pace. This philosophy is key to her management of her Centre, Babilou Umm Suqeim. The Babilou approach is child focused and allows children to develop at their own pace and looks at all areas of development rather than simply academic. Deborah moved to Dubai in December 2013 to work as a Nursery Manager for another organisation before joining Babilou in April 2016 as their approach to early years education matched her own. Deborah was originally the Centre Director at Babilou Palm Jumeirah which she managed from its opening until moving to the Babilou Umm Suqeim branch in March 2017. Prior to moving to Dubai Deborah was the Business Manager for a large high school in the UK. Deborah has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of Central Lancashire in the UK. Deborah strongly believes that working collaboratively with parents is key to maximising children’s Early Years experiences and that communication with parents is an essential part of this. She prides herself on her relationships with families, promotes an open-door approach and encourages feedback from parents with the aim of continually improving the nursery experience for all the children in the Centre.
